The Ondo state chapter of StandUp for Women Society (SWS) has applauded the wife of the state governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for her life imparting programmes on women and the girl-child which it described as unique and first if it’s kind.

The State Chairperson of the women group, Alhaja Rafah Momoh who was represented by the state Secretary, Mrs Fatima Muraina expressed her surprise that the 350 students for this year’s camp were not children of the well-to-do, not from the political class but those selected from the grassroots.

While addressing the students briefly, she charged them to make judicious use of the knowledge garnered from the camp and be better persons in their different endeavours which she said would be very useful for them after their university education.

She affirmed the First Lady’s passion for women, saying that the BEMORE initiative was an avenue to bring out the best in the girls, adding that the knowledge and skills acquired at the camp could be sources of livelihood for so many of them in the nearest future.

“This is an opportunity you must utilise very well because Mama is giving you the most important knowledge in this dispensation by impacting digital knowledge into you, keep on praying for her”,she urge them.

She also applauded Her Excellency’s Widows initiative programme which she described as first of its kind having been a beneficiary where widows were showered with assorted gift items without any political connection, but just registered through the website.

Receiving representatives of the women group at the 2023 summer bootcamp, the Chief Matron of the camp , Mrs Lizzy Akpan urged Nigerians to queue in the programmes of the wife of the state governor, to uplift women and to have a voice of their own.

Akpan said people should look at politics of prospect in governance and not of bitterness to pull governance backward.

Akpan who said they have trained over 1,000 girls since the inception of the programme in 2017, declared that the summer bootcamp would be having international students from overseas in the camp.

She advised various leaders in local governments to emulate Ilaje and Ese-Odo who were supported by Hon Gbenga Edema who saw the vision and queued in it when he was the chairman of OSOPADEC since inception if the programme for training of their girls with a view to making them science leaders who will light up their environment through technological skills acquired from the BEMORE Summer Boot camp.
