Practice Acquired Knowledge for Islamic Development – NACOMYO Tasks Trained Muslim Youths

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has called on trained Muslim youths to put the new skills and knowledge they have acquired into practice.

The Ondo State Coordinator of NACOMYO, Engr. Muhammed Ogunmola, made this call while presenting his keynote address at the programme held in Akure, the Ondo State capital. Engr. Ogunmola, who stated that knowledge must be sought from the cradle to the grave according to Prophet Muhammad, blamed incidences of religious misunderstandings in some areas on a lack of adequate knowledge.

“You see, the reason we always have religious crises in some parts of the country is because of the low level of religious education,” he said.

“Many people are half-baked regarding religious tenets, practices, and propagation.”

While appealing to the government to support Islamic education at all levels of schools, Ogunmola called for the encouragement of teaching religious education at all levels in various institutions of learning. He also expressed appreciation to the facilitators and keynote speakers at the workshop for sharing their knowledge with fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.

In their various reactions, participants applauded NACOMYO and its partnering organisations for enhancing their knowledge. They described the workshop as an eye-opener, promising to spread the knowledge gained to other Muslims across the state.

It would be recalled that Muslim youths were trained on the necessary skills to propagate the Islamic religion in modern ways to foster better relationships between them and adherents of other religions, especially Christians.

The Ondo State Council of NACOMYO organised a two-day workshop for no fewer than sixty Muslim youths. The workshop, which drew about 60 Muslim youths from Islamic organisations across the 18 local government areas of the state, was conducted in conjunction with the Dawah Institute of Nigeria and the Islamic Education Trust, Minna.

Guest speakers presented papers on relevant topics, which culminated in a better understanding of the Islamic religion, its teachings, and its propagation.
