Mama Obalokun laid to rest amidst encomiums

The remains of Alhaja Khadijah Alley Obalokun were yesterday Monday, June 26th 2023 laid to rest in her resident at Sijuwade area of Akure, Ondo state according to Islamic rites.

Alhaja khadijah Alley Obalokun, a former state Amirah (President) of Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria FOMWAN, Proprietor of Khadob Secondary School and owner of TESFA bread died at the age of 83 in the early hours of Monday.

The Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo state, Alhaji Ahmed Aladesawe described mama Obalokun as an Iron woman who was very submissive to her husband as he charged women to emulate her good virtues to make heaven.

” She was a good muslims, a pious and virtuous woman to the core. She fears Allah and her husband despite her calibre of person and her tremendous contributions to the development of mankind.

She never offended her husband in her lifetime which assures her of paradise,” he stated.

In his words of admonition, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede said the decease lived a worthy life which must be emulated by all women.

He appealed to the people on the need to always do good, saying life is vanity but that all should intensify more in the worship of Allah.

” Let us use ourselves to preach to ourselves and we must remember the day death will come when we will leave all that we have to answer the call.

” Mama has lived a fulfilled life and to the service of Allah and left a legacy that she did well and above all was submissive to her husband.

He urged muslim faithfuls to always pray for themselves while praying for the dead.

They should seek for wealth but pray that such wealth should not be that which will become their challenges as to how judiciously they made use of it while on earth.

Alhaji Kareem Aminullah Jekitemiodara, represented by Naibul Imam Ijebu Owo, Alhaji Abdul Nasir said the paradise of a woman lies at the tip of her husband’s toe saying Mama lived a worthy life and left a legacy for others to follow.

The Chief Imam of Answer-ud-deen Society mosque, Alhaji Muksils Sodiq Moduoeoluwa said there is no rest for a living creature which aggravates the blood pressure till the day the person dies, expressing that mama lived a life worthy of emulation.

While urging women to be respectful and submissive to their husbands, he said women are not married solely because of their children, but because of their husbands whom they should respect and adhere to his instructions at all times.


The state Patron of FOMWAN and the chairman of FUTA Muslim community, Prof. Ishiaq Adekunke Amoo appreciated the deceased for a life well spent and prayed to Allah to repose her soul.
A lecturer from Adeyemi University College of Education, Dr. S.S Jubail, urged the Imams and sympathizers to ensure the sustainability of Mama’s legacies and ascertain that they stand the test of time.

“We should all fashion out what to be done with the mosque, the school and other valuable things Mama left behind for the development of mankind and in remembrance of Mama ,” he said.

The state Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Medinat Omikunle described mama as a role model to all Muslim women calling on them to emulate all her virtues.

She said her death is a great lesson for women to be good wives to their husbands and be submissive and have the fear of Allah in all their dealings.
