Ondo State Pilgrims Arrive Arafat for mountain climbing in saudi Arabi

Pilgrims from Ondo State, Nigeria, have arrived at the plains of Arafat to observe the most significant ritual of the Islamic Hajj pilgrimage, marking a key moment in their spiritual journey.
The pilgrims , under the guidance of the Ondo State Muslims Welfare Board, departed from Mina in the early hours of Thursday before dawn, in accordance with Islamic tradition. Their arrival at Arafat coincides with the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his historic Farewell Sermon more than 1,400 years ago.
Speaking on the spiritual importance of the day, the Chairman of the Welfare Board, Alhaji Engr. Adam Zikrillah Chandy, stressed that the Day of Arafat is central to the Hajj rites. “Arafat Day is crucial, and a Muslim’s pilgrimage is invalid without visiting Jabal Rahmah,” he remarked.
Pilgrims will spend the day engaged in prayers, supplication, and reflection. As is customary, they will combine and shorten their prayers (Dhuhr and Asr) and participate in a sermon delivered in multiple languages ,35 in total to cater to the diverse congregation.
Board Secretary Mallam Mohammed Mutiu Omoniyi urged pilgrims to take full advantage of the day’s spiritual opportunities. “This is a time to seek Allah’s forgiveness and blessings. Pilgrims should use every moment at Arafat meaningfully,” he advised.
Following sunset, the pilgrims will proceed to Muzdalifah, where they will collect pebbles for the symbolic stoning ritual, before returning to Mina to continue the remaining rites of Hajj.
The Arafat observance is widely regarded as the spiritual pinnacle of the Hajj, drawing millions of Muslims from around the globe to stand in unity and devotion.
