Ramadan: NACOMYO, Near Foundation Distribute Ramadan Food Items to Vulnerable Muslims in Ondo

The Ondo State chapter of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) has partnered with the Near Foundation to distribute food items to vulnerable Muslims in the state as part of efforts to ease the financial burden associated with the Ramadan fasting period.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at the organization’s secretariat, the Ondo State Coordinator of NACOMYO, Mohamed Ogumola said the initiative forms part of an annual collaboration between the Muslim youth body and the Abuja-based non-governmental organization.

According to him, the Near Foundation focuses on humanitarian support, particularly for people with limited opportunities and those in need of assistance.

“Annually, we partner with the Near Foundation NGO to share food items with Muslims to relieve them of some of the expenses associated with Ramadan,” Mohamed said.

He explained that beneficiaries are carefully selected from within the Muslim community, focusing on individuals who are known to be committed to Islamic practices and actively engaged in community service.

“For this year, we have penciled 25 people as the major beneficiaries of the distribution,” he stated.

Ogunmola noted that the initiative is designed to provide relief for families struggling to meet the increased food demands during the fasting period.

He added that the partnership demonstrates the importance of humanitarian collaboration in supporting vulnerable members of society.

While expressing appreciation to the Near Foundation for its continued support, the NACOMYO coordinator appealed to the organization to expand the programme in future editions.

“I appeal to the Near Foundation to please do more in the supply of the food items so that the number of beneficiaries can be increased annually, because many people are vulnerable,” he said.

He also offered prayers for the organization and its partners, asking for continued success and resources to sustain the humanitarian initiative.

Ogunmola also called on reputable organisation, philanthropists  and capable Nigerians to emulate Near foundation in bringing smiles to the faces of the citizenry

The Ramadan food distribution initiative is part of broader charitable activities carried out by Muslim organizations and humanitarian groups across Nigeria during the holy month..

A beneficiary Mr Abdul Kabir AbdulWaheed expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the assistance would help ease the burden on the families during the Ramadan period.

Items distributed includes 2 kilos of Garri, 2 kilos of Rice, 4 pieces of Spagettis, 1kg of Beans, 1Kg of Semovita, 1kg of Salt and 4 pieces of Macaroni
