Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ has reiterated it’s commitment to members welfare as it called for their cooperation and unity.
The Ondo state Chairman of the Union, Prince Leke Adegbite stated this in Akure at a get-together ceremony organized by the local government information chapel. He said the union will continue to protect members’ interest, but that members should put themselves on a pedestrian level and not to engage themselves in anything that can be undermining.
While applauding the local government chapel on their unity which he described as unquantifiable, he enjoined them to cooperate with one another in other to achieve the creation of the information department at the local government services which he said, has been long overdue.
He appreciated the immediate past chairman of the union, Mr Adetona Aderoboye who he said facilitated many achievements of the union during his tenure among which included the weigh -in- allowance enjoyed by members.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman of the union, Mr Adetona Aderoboye said he will continue to be in the service of the chapel as he called on members not to be deterred in helping themselves.” We have laid objectives and we have achieved a lot and believed that the creation of a department of information will not be an exemption,” he said.
Aderoboye observed that the elder statemen of the chapel should first be recognized as a way of celebrating them before the new ones because their roles have contributed to the achievements of the chapel. The occasion witnessed presentation of award of excellence to Adetona Aderoboye, Akeem Momoh and Layo Babade for their outstanding contributions to the development of the union
