
The Girl-Child has been challenged to be dedicated and determined to be successful in their chosen profession and human endeavours.
The StandUp for Women Society, SWS, threw this challenge to girls during it’s advocacy visit to four schools across Ondo State where branded exercise books were distributed as part of activities marking the international Day of the Girl-Child.
The schools visited were: Adegbola Memorial Grammar School in Akure, AUD (1V) Primary School, Ehinogbe in Owo; St Patrick’s (Ang) Primary School, Ijebu-Owo; and the GraceGreg Compassion Orphanage Home, also in Owo.

The Women group also used the occasion to pay homage to traditional rulers including the Olowo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye; and the Ojomoluda of Ijebu-Owo, Oba Kofoworola Olatunbosun Oladoyinbo.
Speaking during the visitation, the State Chairperson of SWS, Alhaja Rafat Momoh, who led the delegation, after bringing greetings from the international President of the organization, Lib Barr Ijadele Adetona said that children have been empowered and protected to reach their potentials and be great women in their chosen careers.
She applauded parents for doing their best in prompt payment of school fees and the teachers she described as mobile parents imparting of cognitive(knowledge), affective (Values), and psychomotor domain (Skills) needed for preparing them for potential leadership positions.

She said government is providing the conducive environment for teaching and learning process while it has domesticated the Violence Against Persons Prohibition VAPP law in 2021 for the safety and protection of the girl-child which is being advocated by the stakeholders and the civil society organisations.
“It is now the responsibilities of the girl child to make good use of these opportunities to become successful in their different endeavour,” she affirmed.
Momoh reeled out several women role models like the Secretary to Ondo state Government, Princess Oladuni Odu; the first Female Head of Service in Ondo state, Mrs Kolawole Kosemani; female bank head, Mrs Awosika; and many other women who have excelled in different endeavours.

Other members of the team charged the children on hygiene, self confidence and believing in themselves on their ability to greatness. They further encouraged the girls to be close and be friends to their parents in speaking out on their challenges so that they could be successful and be good ambassadors of their families, state and the country at large.
They also encouraged boys to be their sisters keepers and always defend them at all times as well as joining in the house chores which they said are not only meant for the girls to do.
The Principal of Adegbola Memorial Grammar School, Mrs Jogbodo Head Mistressess of AUD Primary, Ehinogbe, Mrs Catherine Olanireti and St Patrick’s Primary school Mrs Iwetan Oyeronike Adenike; respectively , appreciated the organisation for their visit and prayed for God to continue to strengthen and bless them for their interest in the development of children and for a better Nigeria.

Oba Kofoworola Oladoyinbo, Ojomo Aruliwo 111, also appreciated the organisation as he encouraged them to do more to bemore which he said would have positive impact on the children for a better society.
Highlight of the visitation featured marking the birthday of a National Officer of the association, Liberator Comfort Amao, with children of GraceGreg Compassion Orphanage Home at Owo, where the children showered her with prayers as she sorjourns on earth.

Amao, who marked her birthday along with state members of SWS, donated assorted gift items for children at the compassion home.
The founder of the home, Mrs. Grace Abebi Adeniseun, expressed her happiness and pleads for more support and help from Nigerians, particularly the philanthropists, to make future of the children at the motherless home be fruitful and to contribute to the development of the state, country and the world at large.
