Quranic Recitation: Ondo NACOMYO Picks Best 10 for National Competition

The National Council of Muslim Youths Organization (NACOMYO), Ondo State chapter, has selected its top 10 participants for the national Quranic competition to be held in Kebbi State.

The selection took place during the annual Quranic recitation competition in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The competition brought together youths from across the state to foster Quranic knowledge and research development, representing the state.

The event was attended by representatives from all local governments in Ondo State to identify exceptional reciters who will represent the state at the national level and, potentially, on the international stage.

Engr. Ogunmola Mohammed, State Coordinator of NACOMYO, emphasized the competition’s importance as part of a broader initiative that aligns local, national, and international Quranic activities.

According to him, the local government-level competitions had already been conducted, with the best participants advancing to the state level.

“The top 10 among them will move to Kebbi State to compete at the national level, and winners there may progress to Saudi Arabia for further research and development in Quranic and Arabic studies,” he explained.

Abdulwasil Yusuf, State Missioner for NACOMYO, described the program as an avenue for training and engaging Muslim youth. He noted that the competition encourages learning and offers recognition to outstanding participants, adding that learning is sacrosanct and that abiding by the rules of the Quran can help youths address issues such as terrorism and social vices.

Alhaji Amusa Asojuomode Kamolideen, Deputy Moshid of NACOMYO, stressed the value of the Quran as a guide for life. He urged participants to continue their Quranic studies and encouraged others to embrace the teachings of the Quran.

Alhaji Arowolo Saka, State Deputy Coordinator of NACOMYO, highlighted the competition’s role in evaluating memorization and recitation skills. He advised the youths to learn and implement what they learn from their Quranic schools in their daily lives.

Khadija Oyedele, one of the competitors, shared her experience, describing the competition as both challenging and rewarding, and admonished youths to take the Quran seriously.

Another participant, Niphtaudeen Hamza, praised the initiative for its potential to inspire and educate, urging the youths to take the word of God seriously because there is great reward in it.

The state-level competition featured 48 participants, of whom 25 will receive awards, with the top 10 advancing to the national stage.

The competition underscores NACOMYO’s dedication to fostering Islamic values and education among youths, while providing a platform for personal growth, recognition, and advancement in Quranic knowledge.
