An Interfaith Call to Prayer for Nigeria

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Faith,

Nigeria is facing numerous challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, violence, and economic hardship. In times such as these, we must draw closer to Almighty God and seek His divine intervention. Throughout history, God has answered the prayers of His servants when they called upon Him with sincerity, humility, and faith.

The Islamic Perspective

Allah says:

“And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.”

— Qur’an 2:186

“And put your trust in Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of Affairs.”

— Qur’an 33:3

“Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and generosity towards relatives, and forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and oppression.”

— Qur’an 16:90

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught that supplication is among the greatest acts of worship and encouraged believers never to despair of Allah’s mercy.

The Christian Perspective

The Bible reminds us:

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

— Jeremiah 33:3

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

— Exodus 14:14

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

— Matthew 18:20

Jesus Christ taught love, peace, forgiveness, and unwavering faith in God’s power to overcome every challenge.

A United Prayer for Nigeria

Let Muslims and Christians alike pray:

“O Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, we seek Your mercy upon Nigeria. Protect our nation from violence, insecurity, and bloodshed.

Guide our leaders with wisdom, integrity, and compassion. Strengthen our security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property. Comfort families who have lost loved ones and grant them peace and strength.

Unite us in peace, harmony, and brotherhood. Expose and frustrate the plans of criminals and all those who seek to destabilise our nation. Bless our land with safety, progress, and prosperity. Let justice prevail, righteousness flourish, and peace reign in every state, city, town, and village across Nigeria.

Amen. Ameen.”

May Allah bless Nigeria. May God bless Nigeria. May peace, security, and prosperity return to our beloved nation.

Amen. Ameen.

A Message of Unity

Whether in the mosque or in the church, Nigerians should pray earnestly for peace, security, justice, and national unity. Through faith, good character, mutual respect, and collective responsibility, we can all contribute to building a better Nigeria.

May Allah’s mercy and God’s grace bring lasting peace, security, unity, and prosperity to Nigeria.

Ameen. Amen.
