WOWICAN Swears in New Executives

The Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) has sworn in a new leadership of its Ondo State council, to be led by Senior Mother-in-Israel (S/M/I/I) Ojimiwe Patricia as the Chairperson, to steer the mantle of leadership for the next five years.

The association swore her in alongside other State Executive Members shortly after she emerged victorious at the Congress Election held at the Christ Living Church, Akure, recently. The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by members across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, as well as the Southwest WOWICAN Chairperson, Prophetess Odunola Raji-Adebesin JP, and Southwest WOWICAN Secretary, Amb. Mrs. Abike Uyi.

S/M/I/I Ojimiwe, who spoke shortly after she was sworn in, expressed gratitude to God for the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the association. She expressed her determination to work towards achieving the set goals of the group and promised to continue promoting WOWICAN to build a stronger community united in faith and purpose. She also emphasized her focus on major projects for WOWICAN and fostering a healthy environment where everyone’s voice is heard.

She called for support from members to achieve the set goals and appreciated past leaders and the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for steering progress in the association. She reiterated her readiness to take WOWICAN to greater heights during her five-year tenure in office.

Other inaugurated executives include: Rev’d Mrs. Akomolafe Blessings as Vice Chairperson, Pastor Mrs. Akeju Olufunke Mary as Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Ogundare Adebimpe Grace as Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Obateru Idowu Janet as Treasurer, and Deaconess Adewole Christianah Titilayo as Director of State Issues and Social Welfare.

Others are Mrs. Arogun Olayinka Rachael as Director of Planning, Research, and Strategy, Mrs. Ekundayo Florence Jumoke as Director of Education, Youth, and Women, Captain Mother Mary Idowu Amodeni as Director of Ecumenism and Interfaith, Barr. Stella Adegoke as Director Legal, and Deaconess Grace Kehinde Ademokoya, as well as Amb. Mrs. Ale as Ex Officio I and II, respectively.

The event also provided the guest preacher, Rev. Mrs. Oluwamodimu from Reconciliation House, the opportunity to speak to the new leadership about the importance of seeing themselves as servant leaders, stressing that leadership is a call to service.

She also took the opportunity to admonish women to rise up and play their roles as mothers, caregivers, and helpers in building a great society devoid of vices, especially among the younger generation.

Earlier in her valedictory speech, the outgoing chairperson, Deaconess Grace Ademokoya, while highlighting some of her achievements in office, encouraged the new state executives to lead with the fear of God and to take the assignment as a higher call to service.

She also expressed gratitude to some distinguished individuals and groups for their immense support during her administration.

Major highlights of the event included the presentation of meritorious certificates to the outgoing officers and committee members.
