The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Ondo State Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, has honoured two members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ondo State Chapter, for their exceptional commitment and active participation in the affairs of the association.
The awards, presented during the celebration of the first anniversary of the current NAWOJ executive, were among the highlights of the event, which also featured a review of the association’s achievements over the past year and a renewed commitment to advancing the welfare and professional development of women journalists.
Speaking at the event, Adeniyan appreciated NAWOJ members for their unwavering support for his office and the Ondo State Government, describing the relationship as cordial and mutually beneficial.
He noted that although there was still room to deepen the partnership, the foundation already established would pave the way for stronger collaboration in promoting responsible journalism and effective public communication.
The governor’s spokesperson also commended the dedication and professionalism of women journalists, urging them to remain committed to ethical journalism and continue supporting initiatives that promote development and good governance.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ondo State Publishing and Printing Corporation (OSPPC), Mr. Kayode Fasua, lauded female journalists for their professionalism, resilience and invaluable contributions to the media industry.
He said women journalists have continued to distinguish themselves through quality reportage and dedication to duty, encouraging them not to be deterred by the challenges of the profession but to remain steadfast in upholding the ethics and values of journalism.
Fasua also congratulated the NAWOJ leadership on its successful one year in office, expressing confidence in the ability of the current executive to sustain purposeful and impactful leadership.
Earlier, the State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi (JP), described the past year as one of service, growth and unwavering commitment to the progress of the association.
She thanked members for their confidence and support, noting that the executive had recorded notable achievements through initiatives aimed at strengthening the association, improving member participation and advancing its collective objectives.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Gbadamosi reaffirmed the executive’s commitment to transparent, inclusive and accountable leadership.
“As we begin another year, we will consolidate our achievements, address existing challenges and continue working together to move the association to greater heights,” she said.
