Uphold Integrity and Unity, Yayi-Akorede Tells FOMWAN

The Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede, has urged members of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) to uphold the integrity, dignity and reputation of the organisation at all times.

Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede made the call when members of FOMWAN paid him a courtesy visit shortly after a special Jumat prayer organised to commemorate the association’s week-long activities.

Addressing the delegation, the Chief Imam commended FOMWAN for its immense contributions to the growth and development of Islam and stressed the importance of protecting the good name the organisation has built over the years.

He described FOMWAN as a respected body whose image should never be tarnished by inappropriate conduct, noting that members have a collective responsibility to preserve its reputation for future generations.

According to Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede, “FOMWAN is a great symbol that must be protected at all times.

We should never allow its name to be dragged into the mud. Those before us worked hard to build this organisation, we are benefiting from it today, and others will inherit it after us. Therefore, we must continue to uphold its integrity and dignity.”

The Islamic cleric further encouraged members to pursue both spiritual and personal growth while promoting unity within the association. He urged them to embrace tolerance, mutual respect and understanding in their dealings with one another.

Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede noted that positions and status in life are temporary, stressing that only Allah has the power to elevate individuals.

“If you are in a position of influence today, someone who is not in the same position may become greater tomorrow. We must therefore treat one another with love and respect, knowing that Allah alone grants honour and elevation,” he said.

The Chief Imam also advised members to resolve disagreements through dialogue and peaceful engagement rather than allowing conflicts to escalate.

He added that maintaining harmonious relationships, avoiding gossip and refraining from backbiting are essential virtues that attract Allah’s blessings and promote collective progress.

Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede concluded by calling on members to remain vigilant in their conduct and continue to serve as worthy ambassadors of Islam and FOMWAN, while fostering peace, unity and spiritual development within the Muslim community.

Earlier, the State Amirah of the organisation, Alhaja Medinat Omikunle, said that the purpose of their visit was to express appreciation to the Chief Imam for his continuous support of FOMWAN, which she said had been a major factor in the successes recorded by the organisation.
