Agbeladun Marks First Anniversary, Opens Administrative Office, empowers farmers
Agbeladun Agricultural Empowerment NGO celebrated its first anniversary and the official opening of its administrative office in a grand ceremony that highlighted its contributions to agricultural development.
The event attracted dignitaries, partners, and stakeholders, all of whom commended the organization’s impact on youth and women empowerment, skill development, and agricultural innovation.
In his address, the President of the NGO, Mr. Fadoju Olushola Franklin, acknowledged the dedication of the Agbeladun team and partners, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to driving agricultural growth through inclusivity and sustainability.
Reflecting on the organization’s journey, he highlighted major achievements, including training over 2,000 farmers and establishing a 20-hectare cassava farm, as evidence of their mission to transform agriculture.
Fadoju underscored the importance of collaboration with government agencies, commodity associations, and stakeholders to amplify their efforts.
The president called for support in the form of funding, technical assistance, and infrastructure to scale up their projects and create more opportunities for farmers.
Fadoju also shared his vision to expand training programs across all 18 local governments in Ondo State, establish additional farms, and secure partnerships to enhance the agricultural value chain.
He appealed to the state government for support in providing inputs, tractors, and transportation to facilitate the NGO’s work.
Representing the Secretary to the State Government, Administrative Secretary of the Political and Economic Affairs Department, Omotayo Akeju, lauded Agbeladun’s efforts to train youth and promote agriculture. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that address food security and empower farmers.
Royal Father of Agbeladun Agricultural Empowerment, HRH Oba Oloye Rotimi, Olujigba of Ijigba Kingdom, praised the NGO’s accomplishments within its first year and emphasized the critical role of agriculture in ensuring food security and creating wealth.
The king urged the state government to provide land clearance and other incentives to encourage farming.
Senior Technical Assistant to the SSA to the Governor on Agric and Agribusiness, Mr. Olushola Omole, commended Agbeladun’s approach to cluster farming and cooperative efforts. Omole stressed the need for year-round farming through irrigation and innovative practices to attract young people to agriculture.
Other notable speakers included Prof. Adeduro Adegeye, who highlighted agriculture’s role in sustainable development, and Mrs. Tade Wemimo, who trained participants on sack and backyard farming, encouraging innovative agricultural practices for food sufficiency.
The event featured the recognition of outstanding members, with Akoko Local Government members being awarded “Agbeladun Members of the Year” and empowered with tomato seedlings, a bag of coco peat, and many other benefits.
