Encomium as Adeleye Pulls Out of Service

The venue of the retirement ceremony was filled to the brim as friends, family, professional colleagues, and other top government functionaries, including religious faithful and particularly Muslims, not excluding the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations FOMWAN, Ondo state chapter turned out to honour the first-ever Director of the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) in Ondo State, Engr. Dennis Adeleye, who bows out of service.

The event, which could be described as one of the most colourful occasions, was held on Thursday, 3rd April 2025, at the premises of the VIS in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The National Chairman of the VIO, Engr. Paul Bepeh, in a farewell message, described Adeleye’s time in the Ondo State Civil Service as a period of exceptional leadership, guidance, and inspiration, which created a positive and motivating work environment. Bepeh, who was represented at the occasion by the National PRO, Engr. Bamidele Michael, said Adeleye’s willingness to listen, support, and encourage growth had made a lasting impact on his colleagues and subordinates.

Engr. (Dr.) T. A. Babalola, who spoke on behalf of the Southwest Conference of Directors of VIOs, regarded Engr. Adeleye as a strong leader and an integral part of the system, which spans across the Southwest. He affirmed that Adeleye’s tenure brought professionalism and strategies that elevated vehicle inspection to new heights. He expressed optimism that the state government could still benefit from some of his skills.

Many others, including his immediate family member Mr. Rotimi Adeleye, the Muslim community led by Alhaji Sakariyah Arowolo, the State Vice Chairman of NACOMYO, and members of the Ejigba Community where he resides, all shared their testimonies about the retiring officer, describing him as a hardworking and humble man loved by all.

The former Head of Service, Pastor Ogundele, described him as a man of integrity, stating that his retirement marks the beginning of a new journey.

A highlight of the occasion was the pen-down ceremony, followed by the presentation of gifts and a glamorous pull-out parade.

A special prayer session was led by Pastor Fesobi for Engr. Adeleye and his family.

In his response, Engr. Adeleye thanked God for witnessing the day and expressed his gratitude to the Ondo State government for providing all the necessary support to help him succeed in office.

Adeleye also thanked all the officers who worked with him and prayed that God would grant the new Director of VIS, Engr. Adekunle Adeseluka, the grace to surpass his legacies.

In a chat with newsmen, Engr. Adeseluka congratulated his retiring boss, stating that he would be greatly missed.
