The Standup for Women Society (SWS) joined others in celebrating Princess Oreoluwa Agbayewa with a heartfelt thanksgiving service at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church in Akure.

The event which was held on Sundaay February 16th, 2025 was a celebration of her remarkable life, faith, and dedication to community service. Revd. Bishop Jude Arogundade, in his message, urged the congregation to seek the joy of the Lord, which he emphasised is the only true and everlasting joy.

He reminded attendees to refrain from chasing worldly desires and to be content with what they have, highlighting that wealth from God lasts longer.

Bishop Arogundade also encouraged the faithful to stand firm in their faith, pray for others, and trust in God for power and position.

In her goodwill message, the State Chairperson of SWS, Alhaja Rafat Momoh, described Hon. Agbayewa as a selfless liberator who is always ready to serve humanity. “You have indeed proven to be a beacon of diligence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the empowerment of women and humanity at large.”

She described her as a paragon of excellence, whose leadership, compassion, and selfless service have left indelible marks on the lives of many. Marking this remarkable milestone, Momoh prayed that the Almighty blesses her with abundant health, boundless joy, and many more fruitful years of impact.

Hon. Agbayewa’s long-time friend, Lady Florence Asanbe, who shared a personal connection from their school days at Mary Immaculate Secondary School in Ado Ekiti, also expressed her joy for Agbayewa, praising her as a good woman and a dedicated friend.

Born on 16th February 1955, in Ondo City, Hon. Agbayewa has had a distinguished career in education and public service.
After completing her primary education at St. Paul’s Primary School in Ipetu Ijesa, Osun State, she went on to Mary Immaculate Grammar School in Ado Ekiti.

She continued her educational journey, earning a variety of degrees, including a Bachelor of Education in Biology, a Master of Education in Science, and a Diploma in Computer Science.

Agbayewa’s career in education began in 1977 under the Ondo State government, where she served in several leadership roles, including classroom teacher, vice-principal, and principal.

Known for her work ethic and no-nonsense approach, she retired as the principal of African Grammar School, Ijare, but continues to serve as a principal at a private secondary school and as a lecturer at the Distance Learning Centre of Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology in Akure.

Hon. Agbayewa has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including the Best Teacher Award in Ondo State (2011), the Best Principal Award (2021), and several awards for excellence in teaching and leadership. She was also honoured as an ambassador for various organisations, including the Catholic Women’s Organisation of Nigeria (CWN) and the Knights of St. John International.

In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Agbayewa has been a strong presence in her community, having served as the Chairperson of Ondo State teachers from 2019-2021, and as the General of St. Louis Nursery and Primary School, Akure, from 2001-2004.

Her remarkable career and contributions to education and community service continue to inspire many, and the thanksgiving service at the Sacred Heart Cathedral was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to improving the lives of others.

Princess Oreoluwa Agbayewa, the current Vice Chairman of SWS, spoke briefly with the newsmen and expressed her happiness that God had kept her so far, praying for more grace, blessings, mercy, strength, and a long life to impact humanity further.
