We’ll rid Yorubaland of kidnappers – Group
THE South West Security Stakeholders Group, SSSG, on Monday, restated its commitment to secure Yoruba land saying the group will not allow kidnappers overrun the region.
The group also urged the South West governors to support initiative aimed at addressing the security scourge in the region, insisting that it is ready to rid Yorubaland of insecurity.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting with leadership of the 15 security outfits in Ikeja, Lagos, the SSSG’s Publicity Secretary, Ireti Adewole said there was urgent need to restore peace and tranquility across the region.
Adewale said: “The meeting was part of the ongoing efforts of the South West Security Stakeholders Group, SSSG, to ensure that Yoruba land is safe.
“We are not resting on our oars. We are determined to rid Yoruba land of kidnappers and bandits.
“The crux of our meeting is to set the agenda for securing the South-West region from those uncivilized elements that are ravaging Yoruba land and making life unbearable for our kinsmen.
“The struggle is about creating the needed synergy to combat the spate of insecurity. It is about using the best approach to keep all the stakeholders on their toes.
“We are ready to keep marauders at bay and we will not fold our arms to allow evil men to overrun our region.”
On the progress it has made so far, the group’s spokesperson said: “As far as we are concerned, the progress made so far in nipping the rising insecurity in the bud in the South-West is yielding results.
“We see the results with the Yoruba security summit in Ile Ife, which of course, was the idea and initiative of our leader, Iba Gani Adams and I believe many more security outfits will be coming on board to salvage Yorubaland.”
