Truck Horror in Ekiti: Sleeping Undergraduate Killed as Home is Destroyed

….father Seeks Justice

A resident of Aramoko Ekiti, Rufus Farotimi, has appealed for justice following a tragic incident in which a heavy-duty truck crashed into his home, killing his son and leaving his family homeless.

The incident occurred on 26 March, when the truck reportedly veered off the road and rammed into the family’s residence. Farotimi’s son, Promise, a 300-level undergraduate of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), was asleep at the time and was fatally crushed in the impact.

Speaking in the aftermath of the incident, Farotimi described the loss as devastating, stating that he has been left with nothing.

“My son was killed, and I am the owner of the house. This accident has destroyed my home. I have lost both my child and my shelter,” he said.

The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the crash.

However, his assistant was apprehended by residents, and documents recovered at the scene identified the driver as Shuaibu Yusuf.

Farotimi has called on the relevant authorities to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

He also urged the company associated with the truck to take full responsibility for the incident.

Residents and community leaders in the area have attributed the accident  to reckless driving and poor road conditions, calling for urgent government intervention to prevent further tragedies.

The police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
