Ondo NAWOJ: Titiloye, Adetula , others rejoice as Gbadamosi takes oath as Chairperson

The Attorney-General and Ondo state Commissioner for Justices, Sir, Charles Titiloye has described the inauguration of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ chairperson, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi as showcasing women’s ability in the society.

Titiloye, who was present at the Inauguration, said women journalists coming together further reminded those in authorities that women should not be marginalized in the scheme of things, saying it is a platform that will give women journalists voice in the profession which must be encouraged.

He charged the leadership of the NUJ to also create an avenue for a woman to emerge as the union’s chairman.

“We will celebrate it because the Governor described himself as a “he for she” governor and some of us have that philosophy too. “

He said at all times, we must make sure that our women are properly represented and “you must have seen it in the cabinet Mr. Governor put in place,” he said.

The National President of NAWOJ, Mrs. Ladi Bala, who was represented by the National Financial Secretary, Mrs. Adeola Adekunle urged the new chairperson to sustain the tempo and ensure she delivers the course of the association on the development of women and the children.

Earlier, the state Chairman of the NUJ, Prince Leke Adegbite appreciated the presence of all invited guests as he noted that the occasion was to formally inaugurate the chairperson who has been acting in that capacity.

In her inaugural speech, the state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi assured that her leadership will continue to sustain developmental programmes on ground while more programmes that will take the association to a higher pedestal would be brought on board.

She also expressed her readiness to encourage members on entrenching professionalism and ensuring the actualisation of the association’s core values of Integrity, Meritocracy, Professionalism and Accountability.

While appreciating members for their unanimous decision to elect her unopposed, she solicited for their individual active supports and participation which she said, will make them successful and be proud of themselves.

Receiving her at her official place of work, the Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of Owena Press Limited, Publisher of The Hope title, Sir Ademola Adetula expressed joy, satisfaction and delight, saying that she had brought dignity to the establishment.

He advised her to maintain her dignity, be firm and always carry along her members in whatever she is doing.

Also, Editor of The Hope, Mr Akin Adubuola enjoined her to take her members interest first and always ensure transparency.

He urged her to make use of what he described as a word of wisdom given to her and to always stand on truth.

Representative of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Barr. Debbie Selumun Msonter-Shagba administered the oath of office which was taken alongside with Mrs Abiola Ariyo of NTA as the state Internal Auditor.


In her vote of thanks, the chairman, NAWOJEC , Mrs Tosin Aderibigbe appreciated the NUJ and NAWOJ for creating an enabling environment for the electorial body to strive as she urged the executive to work in unity for the development of the association.

Present at the Occasion were the executive members of the state council NUJ, Chief Dental Surgeon, hospital management board and vice president West, Uniben Alumni Association, Dr Omolade Adekolurejo, Ondo state chairman, Uniben Alumni, Mrs Ify Oguntuase and the Administrative manager, Owena press, Mr kole Akinjeji and NAWOJ members among others
