Oba Adefarakanmi, Igbasan others partner SWS for women, children development

The Olowa of Igbara-Oke Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Ilufemiloye, Ogidi lll, has expressed his readiness to throw his weight behind the Stand Up for Women Society for the development of women and the Children in Ondo state.

Oba Adefarakanmi made the pledge while playing host to members of the Ondo state chapter of the organisation at his place in Igbara-Oke on Wednesday.

He said he has much respect and regards for women who he said brought forth the men and making good homes who must be supported in building the community, state, country and the world at large.

In a similar development, the Ondo state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan charged them to make documentations of areas that needs government intervention during the course of their activities which he said will always be looked into and included in the budget.

He assured that the state will look into the missionary school at Awo Kajola in Idanre local government area which is said to be serving about 28 communities around the rural setup which needs governments attention.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender, Hon. Mrs. Olamide Falana expressed satisfaction on the activities of the organisation, noting that her office will always be there to render her support for the voices of women to be heard.

She said they should continue to work hard and support one another to meet the targeted goal and contribute their quotas to develope their society and the state in particular.

Speaking at different point of the visitation, the state Chairperson of the group, Alhaja Rafat Momoh said the group is a networking forum created as an umbrella to promote women affairs and influence the minds, actions and practices of the general public at various government levels to support and ensure fair share responsibilities to women.

“The group is also to enhance and encourage women to have self confidence, freedom of choice; freedom from violence and attack and ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind” she stated.

She reeled out some activities done at the state level to include; participation at the 2023 national conference of the organisation, joining others to fight for inhumanity meted out on the women commissioner recently, visiting and presentation of Save Our Soul for a deaf woman who lost her baby on birth, celebrating the international day of the Girl-Child in about four schools this year among many others.

She however appreciated the hosts and officially invited them for the association’s zonal training programme to hold first week of November in Akure.
