Army Soldiers Marching on Military Parade

By Sam Kaye

General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has said that no ambush against his troops on Sunday this week.

He revealed that what happened to the troops was a road accident which affected the soldiers while they were off to Mongunu and not an ambush by insurgents as portrayed by detractors in the social media.

.
” This accident occured on Sunday and a towing vehicle was dispatched to tow the accident truck to Maiduguri.

” It was not an ambush as speculated. This is just the handiwork of mischief makers in the social media.

” The road is very safe and the entire region cleared of terrorist activities and I can tell you the soldiers are all alive but for minor injuries. No death occurred at all among them.” Said Abdulsalam.

Recent attacks on residents in Molai

Meanwhile, a group of insurgents attacked Molai community in the outskirts of Maiduguri obviously to avenge the killing of their fighters by vigilantes operating in the axis in which they lost four of their fighters last Wednesday.

Molai on the road to Damboa is still in a mourning mood as at yesterday when this reporter visited the community.

Military sources alleged that they also recovered sophisticated weapons including Ak47 rifles and four motorbikes in the process of repelling the attack.

After a thorough search of the infiltrated general area by security personnel, 12 corpses were recovered in and around the bush of Molai within the week.

The source while describing the gory incident told this reporter that the insurgents after surrounding the farmers ploughing their farms in response to the rains, tied their hands and legs and slaughtered them like goats for sale in the market.

More butchered bodies were said to have been seen by residents who went scouting for their loved ones days after they went farming into the savanna and never returned.

Most residents around kano road down to Dalai in maiduguri own farms as much as 20km away from the General Hospital Molai which is about the safest point allowed on that route to Damboa without escorts by the military.

More than 20 peasant farmers may have lost their lives silently within the last two weeks to insurgents who are careful not to fire their rifles not to attract the attention of the military who would surely come against them in response.
