Ondo NAWOJ tasks women in politics on Liberation
..as APC woman Guber Aspirant visits
Women contesting for political positions have been applauded for their courage in ensuring that women have good representation in governance .
In a press statement released and signed by the Ondo state Secretary of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Oluwatosin Ighoteguono, the state council played host to the only APC female gubernatorial aspirant, Dr Funmi Waheed-Adekojo recently.
According to the statement, Ondo State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi commended Dr Waheed-Adekojo’s courage to swim in the mulky water of politics in her quest to be the first woman to govern the state.

Gbadamosi, however wished her well, noting that her decision to vie for the position of governor was not accidental, but a well thought out plan to liberate citizens, especially women and girls from all forms of practices, impeding their growth and development in the society while the men would also be given a place of pride in the scheme of things.
Earlier, the only female governorship aspirant under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo state, Dr Funmi Waheed-Adekojo says she is seeking the party’s ticket to ensure that women and girls take their rightful positions in the state.
She lamented that the womenfolk was often relegated to the background in decision making process and this she intended to correct through her aspiration at this time.
Dr Waheed-Adekojo, a trained engineer posited that her vast experience in both private and public sectors already gave her an edge over other contestants, promising to bring such experience to bear as governor if she wins the APC Guber ticket as she was confident of victory at the poll.

According to her, a blueprint will be developed to rapidly enhance all the sectors of the state’s economy especially health, infrastructure, education and create platforms for youths to be empowered through entrepreneurship skills.
Waheed-Adekojo said she decided to engage with NAWOJ being an association, advocating a better living for women and girls in the society noting that part of her plans for the state were promotion of gender equality, adequate security, scholarship for indigent children, creation of employments opportunities and making the state an investment hub.
Waheed-Adekojo therefore solicited the support of women in picking the APC Guber ticket as the party’s primary draws nearer, saying she was not afraid to rock the boat with her co-contestants whom were all male.
Present at the visit were the state executives of NAWOJ, Vice president B Zone, Comrade Adeola Adekunle, Chapel Coordinators and some elders of the Association.
