Late Ace Broadcaster, Akinwale Oshodi immotalised with God’s Will Foundation

The Ondo State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed its determination to support the newly launched God’s Will Foundation, established in memory of the late Ace broadcaster, Hon. Martins Akinwale Oshodi JP, for sustainability.

The Foundation was launched on Saturday October 5th 2024 at his resident along Oda road to mark the 10th year anniversary of his dimens.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, The State Council Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, said the union would not forget the contributions of the late journalist, hence it was very happy with the setting up of the foundation.

Adegbite represented by the Union’s State Treasurer, Alhaja Fatima Muraina, stated that the late Akinwale Oshodi was a great broadcaster, known by many during his lifetime, and that his legacy will continue to live on.

Presenting an exhortation at the event, Assembly Pastor, CAC Oke Isegun Akure, Pastor Gbenga Adeoye, enjoined widows to stand upright and remain resilient in the face of adversity, striving to provide for the welfare and education of their children to secure a better future. He encouraged them to embrace opportunities for personal development, economic empowerment, and community support, ensuring that the loss of a spouse does not hinder their ability to lead their families with dignity and strength.

“By fostering a spirit of determination and perseverance, these women can contribute meaningfully to society while creating a stable and promising environment for their children,” Pastor Adeoye said.

He described widowhood as a state of total hopelessness, but emphasized that those in such situations should pull themselves together to rise up and fulfill their destiny. “The more you dwell on the past, the more your destiny is retarded. If you move forward, God is ready to do something,” he said.

Pastor Adeoye quoted several passages of scripture to encourage widows and others in similar situations to live up to expectations, forget the past, and move forward to actualize their destinies. “There are many positions in which one finds oneself that require standing up and rising. A widow who falls but does not rise again has truly fallen, but standing up means there is still hope, for the Bible says the righteous may fall seven times, but they should continue to rise,” he emphasized.

Evang. Mrs. Adetutu Adedeji, who spoke on “Who Are the Widows?” and “Victory Over Widowhood Challenges and Single Parenthood,” urged widows to keep their focus on the Lord and avoid being distracted by gossip. She advised them to concentrate on moving forward for progress.

She cautioned against compromising their integrity by becoming vulnerable to every “Tom, Dick, and Harry” like a harlot, reminding them that there is grace to stand alone. “Take your stand and draw closer to God, for He is the only one who will always be there for the widows,” she advised.

In her address, the coordinator of the foundation, Evang. Mrs. Bukola Ishodi-Ibukun, said the foundation is a Christian one, and its programs will be conducted in line with Christian principles.

“It is aimed at offering help and support to widows, orphans, and the less privileged, both financially and spiritually. Additionally, we will organize a seminar and prayer conference once a month,” she stated.
