Erosion, Bad Roads Threaten 26,000 Lives in Ute

… Community cries for help

The people of Ute in Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State, have raised an urgent alarm over crumbling roads and devastating erosion threatening their lives and livelihoods.

In a direct appeal to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, community leaders warned that without immediate intervention, the twin crises could cripple the agrarian hub and endanger over 26,000 residents.

In a press release issued and signed by the leaders of the community, Asiwaju Banji Owoka and Elder Fessy Toba Olabode which was made available to the media, emphasized the need for urgent attention from the concerned government authorities to safe the lives of the people of the agerian and productive community in Ondo state.

An appeal written by the community to government titled ” the Erosion and it’s devastating effect on the existence and survival of Ute kingdom had several pictures of the rate of devastation effect attached to it for confirmation.

It showed that the UTE Kingdom is so devastating that if concrete steps are not taken urgently, it may result into total loss of lives and property in the area as a result of earthquake which may result from the effect of the deep gully erosion.

“The erosion is not only limited to a particular site but to more than ten conspicuous sites of which attention of the government is highly required now to prevent future disaster which may lead to colossal loss of innocent lives,” the letter read.

It further read that ” On this note, we by this medium send please “Save our Soul” message to your Excellency to please and please do everything humanly possible to save our present generation and the next from the upcoming doom and disaster.”

Pictures attached showed the mostly affected areas labeled from picture 1 to 10 showing Orugwu Trench, Sawmill road, school road and along Okarugbe street beside Chief Inoren house which has been eaten up by gully erosion.

Also attached are: Orugwu Trench’s towards Ashama’s House, Ute-Ifon road beside Baba Ashama among majority of others.

The community awaits the governor’s immediate intervention to prevent loss of life and properties while expressing their unalloyed support and prayers for the success of Governor Aiyedatiwas’s administration to benefit the general populace
