Chief Imams have been urged to actively involved in educational endeavours, imparting religious knowledge and promoting deeper understanding of Islam in the society and Nigeria as a whole.
A former senior lecturer at Al -Hlkmah University, Ilorin, Dr Yusuf Kolawole Jimoh stated this at the 2nd workshop for Chief Imams in Offa Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Offa Kwara State.
Dr Jimoh stated that some Imams engage in charitable activities, working to address social issues and uplifting the less fortunates.
The University lecturer underscored the responsibilities of Chief Imams in guiding and setting examples for their congregations.
Earlier, the Chairman, Hijrah Islamic Organization, Professor Badmas Yusuf, also called on Chief Imams from across the sixteenth Local Government of kwara state to consistently seek for more knowledge in order to educate their congregations.
Professor Yusuf charged them to discharge their duties and responsibilities diligently with the fear of Allah and service to humanity to attain salvation on the day of judgement.
The event which brought together Chief Imams from various mosques, provided platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and fostered a sense of communal responsibility.
Earlier, the chief Imam of Offa, Imam Muhyideen Saliman Hussein prayed for the Nation, especially the Government and people of Kwara for sustainable peace and development as he urged the Imams to use their sermon to correct social ills and mobilization towards successful spiritual upliftment of lives in both worlds.
