Osun NDLEA Seizes Cocaine, Cannabis, and Other Illicit Drugs

The Osun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the seizure of 12.4 grams of cocaine, 81.5 kilograms of cannabis, and various other illicit drugs.
CN Nnadi Chidi, the NDLEA state commander, revealed this to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday, along with the arrest of three individuals linked to different drug-related offenses.
Chidi explained that one of the arrested individuals, Suleiman Usman, 51 years old and a former convict, was apprehended in Okini. Notably, Usman had an ongoing case before the Federal High Court, Osogbo, prior to his recent arrest.
“On May 1, 2024, our operatives conducted a raid in Okinni, resulting in the arrest of Suleiman Usman with 28.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 4.4 grams of cocaine, 20 tablets of rohypnol weighing 6.2 grams, and 812 capsules of tramadol weighing 300 grams,” Chidi stated.
He continued, “On Monday, May 13, 2024, during a motorized patrol along Ode-Omu/Osogbo Road, we intercepted a commercial Ash-colored Toyota Avensis Wagon car with Registration No SMK 131 CX. We recovered a consignment containing 9 block-like wraps of cannabis sativa weighing 4.7 kilograms. The driver, Kazeem Alamu, 40 years old, claimed it was a waybill intended for delivery to someone in Osogbo.”
“Further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of another consignment containing 26.5 grams of cannabis sativa and 6.5 grams of cocaine. A subsequent operation resulted in the arrest of one Adeyemi Saheed, 33 years old, who arrived in an unregistered gold-colored Toyota Corolla to collect the consignment. A search of his vehicle yielded 1.5 grams of cocaine,” he added.
Chidi commended the dedication of his officers and issued a stern warning to drug dealers and couriers in the state, urging them to cease their activities or face arrest and prosecution.
