SWS advocates quality Education for Children at grassroots
Senator Janet Akobi’s vision of the young Disciples Academy of Awo Kajola village in Idanre, Ondo should be supported to through qualitative education to meet her potential.The StandUp for Women Society has stated .
The Ondo State Chairperson of the organization, Liberator Rafat Momoh called for educational facilities to support to support the young Disciples Acadmy school at Awo Kajola community in Idanre for their children to attain their potentials.
Momoh spoke at the school during a visit to the school in commemoration of the celebration of the international Day of the Girl Child held on Friday Ovtober 11,2024 where a primary three pupil, Janet Akobi said she would like to become a Senator when she was asked what she wanted to become.
She expressed concern that the community do not have government impact on education as the academy existing in that community is serving about 18 communities or villages withing the camp.
She called for urgent intervention from the government notong that the existing school could not serve 18 other local government and that it should also have government impart on educational facilities.
“Resident of these areas and camp are alo Ondo state citizens who would also exercise their civil voters right,”
” Our government and politicians as well as philanthropist should be magnanimous enough to build and sustain the only existing school within that locality. The children I saw are very bright and their interest in education should not be thrown into the bush,” she stated.
Momoh who spoke to the children on the celebration of the Girl Child said the 2024 year theme is Girls’ vision for the future charged the students not to relent in their quest for education which she noted is their future to glory and prosperity .
According to her, the girls can do whatever the boys do and no subject is for the boys nor girls and that they all have the grave of becoming great people.
” Your reproductive health is also paramount to you and ensure that your rights ar protected. Make your parents your best friends and feel free to open up to your teachers when humiliated or harassed in any form .
The organisation earlier visited the Fanibi community primary school at Fanibi layout in Akure where children were also celebrated and sensitized on the theme of the year.
Responding at the two visitations, the head ministress of Fanibi Primary school and the representatives of the Young Disciples Academy Iyaafin Awoniyi and Mrs Grace Oguntotinbo applauded the SWS for choosen to visit their schools among several others.
Also the Olu of Awo Kajola community, Mr. Akinniroye Akingbehin urged government to come to the aid of the community to help bult schools to save their children from nefarious activities which is detrimental on their lives, the community and the country at large.
” We need government presence on provision of educational facilities like building of schools and helping to support the mission school which is struggling to survive and serving 18communities within the camps,” he affirmed.
