
Health Technology students across Ondo state have been trained on administering Vitamin ‘A’ supplement and Albendazole deworming tablets to children from 6 to 59 months.
The training has yesterday Friday November 17th, 2023 completed at the Ondo state College of Health Technology, Akure to meet the target of 2,000 students in all.
Those trained included the students of the Coastline College of Technology in Okitipupa, Millennium College of Technology in Akure and the Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure.

The training organized by Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood in partnership with Vitamin Angels, was aimed at building student’s capacity and fighting malnutrition and child mortality in Ondo State.
Speaking at one of the venue of the training, The Dean of Student Affairs of the Ondo state College of Health Technology Akure, Mr. Gbabe Paul Olusola, emphasized the potential of the training to strengthen the health status of the public, particularly among children.
He also mentioned the impact of equipping the students with valuable skills and contributing to public health.
The College Head of Department, Community Health Department, Evangelist Paul Hassan Ilegbusi expressed his satisfaction with the training, saying the training will make the students well informed about how to reduce vitamin A deficiency in children.

He urged the organizers to conduct the training annually for sustained benefits.
Also, Dean of School of Health Information Management, Mrs Omoyemi Adelegan expressed gratitude to the organizers for considering their students worthy of the opportunity and she said the training is a great advantage for the students.
Adelegan emphasized that the training will reduce the health challenges arising from self medication.
The trainer who is the Deputy Director of Nutrition, Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mrs Kikelomo Adejuwon, trained the students on how to administer Vitamin A and Albendazole.

She shared her expectations for students to administer Vitamin A during Maternal and Child health week.
“If the students are out there administering vitamin A, they will be improving the health of children in their community and when we have children who have good health, then we will have a good nation” she added.
The Chief Executive Officer of Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood, Mrs Olabisi Omolona expressed gratitude to Ondo State government for providing an enabling environment.

Omolona highlighted ROTDOW’s partnership with Vitamin Angels since 2017, supplying essential Vitamin A and Albendazole during Maternal, Newborn and Child health week.
According to Omolona, this is aimed to enhance students’ skills and add value to their certificates
.

Highlight of the training included practical sections and presentation of certificates of participation to the students.
