INEC partners Ondo NAWOJ on voters’ Education

The Independent Electorial Commission has expressed its readiness to partner the state council of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists in Nigeria (NAWOJ) on voter Education.

The Ondo State Resident Electorial Commissioner, (REC), Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola stated this while playing host to the executive members of the State Council of NAWOJ in her Alagbaka office in Akure at the weekend.

Babalola while reacting on the visitation, lauded the peaceful coexistence among people of Ondo state, especially during this political season.

She affirmed, that the commission was always on top of its roles to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process through voters’ education, with rules of engagement, and fairness to all involved.

She however assured that the commission would continue to foster partnership with NAWOJ to achieve the desired results.

Earlier, the state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, expressed the willingness of women journalists to partner the commission on voter Education.

According to her; “We want to collaborate with your commission to help build the capacity of women and youths towards enhancing their participation in electoral processes and in politics.

She noted that women are also known to have strong will, so they can also vie for positions and contest without begging, adding that there is no reason why more women cannot win elections and occupy higher posts considering their numerical strength.

“We want you to also help and partner with us in the area of voter education for women, so that women can be more enlightened on how to vote and vote properly so that their votes can be counted and make a difference in the state”, she said.

” I have no doubt in me, that collaboration like this can truly enhance participation in electoral processes and politics”, she stated.
