The family of Akerele in Ese-Odo local government Area of Ondo State, has demanded for the arrest of seven convicted persons who are still moving freely in Arogbo Community .
The convicted persons include, Akins Tiewei, Love Sofiyegha, Gbefayefa Batife Onana, Towei Kowei , Fiyesinkumo Ojogo , Firikoriwei Agitan and Oni Adams all resident in Arogbo -Ijaw Community.
The Chief Imam of Ese-Odo , Alhaji Akerele AbduLateef Oweigbintiemo who spoke on behalf of the family, made the demand in a chat saying the convicted persons were on Wednesday, the 19th October 2022, in another resounding Judgement at the Okitipupa High Court, hearing the appeal, declared it as lack of merit and failed completely.
Alhaji Akerele disclosed that the convicted persons were to serve a five years jail term as affirmed by the the High Court of Okitipupa as he called on the appropriate authority to justify the court ruling and implement the order.
According to him, the convicted persons are rusticated human beings, hardened criminals and callous, warning, that authorities where they represents should distance their dealings with them.
He advised the Local Government Service Commission, Teaching Service Commission, the Arogbo traditional council and the PDP Arogbo ward 1 where Gbefayefa Batife Onana of Ese-Odo local government, Akins Tiewei of Arogbo city Academy, Love Sofiyegha of Arogbo Ijaw traditional council and Towei Kowei of PDP Arogbo ward 1 Chairman to distance dealings with them because they have been convicted at both the lower court at the Magistrate court at Igbekebo and the high court at Okitipupa.
In one of the judgment papers signed by Hon. Justice D.I Kolawole which was made available, it read that “the concomitance is that the appeal is without merit and it is bound to fail and it fails completely.”
” The appeal filed by the appellant HOK/4CA/2019 is hereby dismissed”.
In a press statement signed by Alhaji Akerele Abdulateef Oweigbintiemo, Mr Teimobomi Tafabofa and Mr. Boubini Oweitongu which was made available to Journalists, the High court sitting in Okitipupa has upheld and affirmed the Judgement of the Magistrate Court, Igbekebo on the 20th of July, 2017, which sentenced and convicted seven Persons found guilty in a case of Arson, Malicious damage, Willful destruction of houses and other Valuables in Arogbo Town, Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state.
The pandemonium and the mayhem occured 21st of April 2013.
