Aiyedatiwa Congratulates Leke Adegbite on Re-Election as NUJ Chairman, Hails Peaceful Transition


The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Prince Leke Adegbite, on his re-election.

In a goodwill message delivered at the inauguration of the union’s new leadership in Akure on Wednesday, the Governor praised the smooth transition that returned Adegbite for a second term in office.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended NUJ members for their unity and maturity, describing the peaceful electoral process as a testament to the union’s dedication to professionalism and internal democracy.

He expressed appreciation for the support the Ondo NUJ has shown his administration and assured that the government would continue to partner with the union in promoting good governance and responsible journalism.

The Governor also extended his congratulations to Miss Precious Oluwole of TRACE News Magazine, a member of the Governor’s Press Crew, who was elected as the Assistant General Secretary of the union.

Representing the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, at the event, the Vice President for the South West Zone, Mrs. Aderonke Samo, lauded the commitment of Ondo State Council members to the journalism profession. She praised the outgoing executives for their contributions and commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Leke Adegbite reaffirmed his dedication to protecting the interests of journalists in the state. He also thanked leaders of the union from neighboring states who attended the ceremony and pledged to build on the progress made by his predecessor.

The newly elected executives sworn in and presented with certificates of office include:

Prince Leke Adegbite – Chairman
Mr. Meshach Olaoluwa – General Secretary
Mrs. Maria Famakinwa – Treasurer
Miss Precious Oluwole – Assistant Secretary
