Aiyedatiwa assures FOMWAN of successful 2024 National Conference
The Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has expressed his commitment to ensuring that FOMWAN receives a fitting celebration for its 2024 National Conference, which will be held from 22nd to 25th August in Ondo State.
He gave this assurance while hosting the leadership of the State Council of the association on Friday, 16th August 2024, at his Alagbaka office in Akure, the state capital.
Aiyedatiwa stated that FOMWAN is a formidable association whose activities are impactful in the state and always support the government by complementing its initiatives.
Noting that similar bodies and professional organisations celebrate significant events like a National Conference, Aiyedatiwa assured that FOMWAN would not be an exception, promising to lend his support to ensure the conference’s success.
“The state has hosted similar bodies and professional organisations.
Definitely, you will need funds, and this is noted.
“We have the capacity, which is why they are bringing it here.
“Ondo State is peaceful, and I know the event will be a success,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa congratulated the State Chapter on being the host and acknowledged that such national events involve various expenses, including accommodation, venue, food, and drinks.
He also wished all delegates safe travels and affirmed that the conference would be a peaceful and successful one.
Earlier, the State Patron of the association, Chief Jamiu Ekungba, who led other Muslim political officeholders in accompanying FOMWAN leaders on the visit, highlighted the importance of the National Conference, noting that it has been an annual event and that Ondo State is hosting this year’s conference.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, emphasised that FOMWAN had been preparing for the event but had not been able to brief the governor due to his tight schedule until now, as the conference approaches.
He revealed that the state is expecting dignitaries from all the 36 states, including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, among whom are the Sultan of Sokoto, Islamic clerics, Imams, and Alfas.
In attendance at the visit were the State Amirah, Alhaja Medinat Omikunle, with her Naiba, Alhaja Muslimat Fadola; the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Alhaja Rafat Momoh; the Chairman of the Accommodation Committee LOC, Alhaja Idayat Jimoh; the Akure South Amirah and member of the Environmental Sanitation LOC Committee, Alhaja Hannat Ibrahim; and the State Media Ambassador, who is the Chairman of the Publicity Committee LOC, Alhaja Fatima Muraina.
