Odudu Denies Involvement in Alleged Disruption of APC Stakeholders’ Meeting in Akure

The Ondo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Ambassador Odudu Emmanuel Ademola, has denied allegations that he masterminded the disruption of a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the party’s State Secretariat in Akure on February 17, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ondo State NURTW Media, Odudu described the claims linking him to the incident as “completely misleading” and a “total falsehood.” He refuted assertions that he led thugs to attack the state APC chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, and other party stakeholders during the meeting.

According to Odudu, he attended the gathering in his capacity as a party stakeholder and not as a representative of the union. He said that upon arrival, he observed heated exchanges among supporters of different aspirants, stressing that the matter was strictly an internal party affair and not related to the NURTW.

He maintained that no officer or member of the union was involved in the fracas. Rather, he said he attempted to mediate and restore calm before the arrival of security operatives.

Odudu noted that officers from the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, alongside personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Services (DSS), eventually brought the situation under control.

While condemning the attack on Engr. Adetimehin and other party members, the NURTW chairman described the incident as unacceptable and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disruption.

He also urged the public and media practitioners to verify sensitive information before dissemination to avoid misleading the public and escalating tensions.

The statement was signed by the Ondo State NURTW Media and dated February 18, 2026.
