Food Security ; Tinubu’s wife supports Osun women in Agric with N10m grants

Food security remains one of the cardinal objectives of any administration, which must be handled very well to prevent food shortages .
This accounted for the 10 million naira Agric grant support scheme to women in Agric across the thirty Local Government Areas and Area Offices of Osun State, Courtesy of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Speaking during the disbursement exercise which took place at Local Government Service Commission hall, the State Secretariat, Abeete, Osun State Governor’s Wife, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke who doled out the cash grants under the concept of her pet programme “Imole Osun Development and Rekindled Hope Initiative said it was with a view to ensuring food security as well as empower women in Agriculture in Osun State as being done in other states in Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Initiative of Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
While applauding the kind gesture of Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Adeleke advised the beneficiaries not to divert the Agric Grant support to other non profitable ventures but make judicious use of it so as to
encourage the donor to do more.
In their separate goodwill messages at the programme, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agric, Hon. Adekunle Atidade, wife of ALGON Chairman in Osun, Mrs Monisade Awotunde, and the State Coordinator, Nigerian Association of Women in Agric, Alhaja Idayat Ibrahim, commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the financial assistance to women farmers in Osun State.
In the same vein, they also appreciated Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke for doing the State proud at the Federal level which birthed several benefits for the people of the state especially the aged, women, children and the downtrodden among others.
The trio advised the beneficiaries not to disappoint the facilitator, by ensuring the N250,000 grant for each of them is put into good use, to boost their Agro business, thereby increasing food sufficiency in Osun State.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Sade Owolabi lauded Senator Tinubu’s good intentions for women in Agric, adding that, the development will go a long way in helping Women in their farming business in no small measure.
Highlight of the event graced by the Wives of Osun Commissioners, wives of Local Government Chairmen and Imole Sisters among others was the distribution of the cheques to the women farmers in Osun.
