An 18-year-old victim, Sale Ibrahim, has lost two of his fingers to a suspected GSM handset thief who sliced off his two fingers before bolting with his handset.
The victim’s Uncle, Alhaji Suleman Afawu disclosed that the suspected thief committed the offence at Jiddu village near Tudun Wada, Lugbe area in Abua on Saturday night.
Alhaji Afawu, who disclosed this said the victim had returned home from grazing cattle and went back to Jiddu village to retrieve two handsets he had given to a phone charger around 8 pm.
“He was returning home when he was attacked by the armed thief who assaulted him with a sharp cutlass.
Sale used his hand to shield himself from the attack but tragically lost two fingers and sustained a gash to his forehead.”
“He dropped the handsets to save his life and fled home, crying for help.
“We rushed him to a private Yabisam hospital in Federal Housing Authority, Lugbe where he had received three units of drips, and we are awaiting blood samples to donate blood for him,”
Suleman Afawu stated.
Afawu also reported the incident to the Police Outpost in Tudun Wada, Lugbe.
According to him, the police contacted the vigilante group in Jiddu, which led to the arrest of the victim who was then taken to the Nigerian Police Divisional Office in Lugbe.
