Leaders have been charged to have that sense of responsibility wherever they find themselves and remember that they will account for their stewardship on the day of resurrection.

Imam, Director Daru Islamic Center, Igoba Akure, Dr. Lukman Idris Sekoni gave this advice while delivering a paper titled; “We are All Shepards”, at a-2day Transitional Conference and Award presentation ceremony organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria MSSN, Akure Area Council held at the Central Mosque in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Dr Sekoni reminded people that everybody shall be answerable to the creator, Allah on the day of resurrection, saying it is not those in position of authority alone.

He noted that Allah has placed responsibility on every human being, adding, that was why Prophet Muhammad said ” All of you are Shepard’s and will be answerable to Allah on the day of ‘Kiyamah’.

He noted that Islam recognizes leadership with responsibility which centered on the importance of being a leader and to be responsible under the shade of being a leader.

“Being a leader is not an ordinary turtle but be ready to shoulder the responsibility,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Shaykh (Dr.) Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede expressed disappointment that none of Akure indigenes is included in the executive members of the MSSN Akure council area which he stated was not good enough.

He also observed the reduction in the membership strength of the organization as he tasked them to go on drastic membership drive in sustaining the status and scope of the organization as it used to be in the early days of its establishment .

The Ameer, President of Akure area council of MSSN, Alhaji Abdulnaafiu Ododoloto, in a chat with the media, described the programme as part of the society’s contribution to the development of the organisation.

He said it is aimed at making 0eoolr get the understanding that Islam is well civilised and in appreciating the contributions of those who have contributed to the propagation of Islam and the development of the Muslims in the state.

Ododoloto who said that the awardees were carefully selected stated that Islam is one and all muslim organisations are one, stressing that faithfuls need to continue to work together in unity and in harmony.

In an address delivered by the Chairman , Engr. Taofuq Temitope Agbaje Abdul Salam, he called for the need to unite and work together and draw inspiration to curb the challenges and further advance the mission of the MSSN.

He called for the support of governments at all levels in actualizing the organisation’s objectives in the development of the children and the youths.

An award recipient, Mr Okoro Salahudeen described the award as an honour of their activities and ability to the development of islam in the state.

He said the lecturer has been able to make them realise that everybody is accountable to Allah in everything given to an individual as a woman, man, teacher child and whoever within the house, community, state the country and the world at large.

The occasion which featured a total of 42 award recipients honoured 24 on the first day while others were recognised on the second day.
