ODSCIA urges political parties to shun thuggery, respect electoral rules

Political parties in Ondo State have been urged to shun acts of thuggery, ballot snatching, and character assassination, and to play the election game according to the rules.

This was contained in a communiqué issued and signed by the State Chairman of Ondo State Council of Islamic Affairs (ODSCIA), Alhaji Waidi Ademola Fadola, and the General Secretary, Imam Tesleem Muhammed Yusuf, at the end of the State meeting and the inauguration of the Executive Committee for Islamic Affairs (CFIA), Idanre branch.

The communiqué, which was made available to the media, stated that the Council identifies with the government and people of Borno State, especially Maiduguri, where floods have been ravaging communities and rendering people homeless.

It prayed that Almighty Allah would bring succour to the affected victims.

The Council also called on the government at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels to intensify efforts in tackling insecurity.

It viewed the spate of kidnapping and banditry with concern and urged that all government machinery be put in place to nip the menace in the bud so that farmers could return to their farms.

The Council urged the government to quickly resolve the current hardship and alleviate the suffering of the people following the fallout from the fuel subsidy removal, which is affecting every household.

It stated that this is necessary as students resume from holidays, to prevent pupils from dropping out due to the high cost of transportation.

The Council advocated for peaceful cohabitation between the Muslim Ummah and non-Muslims alike, to help the nation at large so that the government’s programs could yield the desired results.

It, however, congratulated its newly inaugurated Idanre Branch Executives of the Committee for Islamic Affairs (CFIA) and enjoined them to live up to expectations.
