ODIEC sets for LCDA’s election… releases date

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC says it has put in place measures to conduct election into the offices of the Chairman and Vice Chairman in the newly created Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs in the state.

ODIEC Chairman, Dr Joseph Aremo disclosed this in Akure at a stakeholders meeting on the issuance of Notice of Election and presentation of Timetable and schedule of activities for the 33 LCDAs.

Dr Aremo noted that accent to the bill creating the LCDAs by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu made it mandatory to involved them in the conduct of the council poll.

The ODIEC Chairman emphasized that the commission will continue to work in line with the constitution and urged all stakeholders to abide by the guidelines of the conduct of the election.

According to the Timetable primary election in the new LCDAs will hold between 6th to 21st October, 2023 and campaign for the council poll commences November 17th, 2023.

The commission added that the date of the local government election remains Saturday February 17th, 2023
