Eid-El-Fitr holds Wednesday says Sultan

 

The 2024 Eid-El-Fitr celebration to mark the end and appreciation of the Ramadan fasting will hold on Wednesday April, 10th 2024. It has been declared.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, declared this in a statement issued by the Sultanate Council, Sokoto’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee.
It said the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH was not sighted on the night of Monday 8th April 2024.
This, it noted indicated why the Ramadan fasting will be 30 on Tuesday 9th March 2024 while Wednesday 10th April will be 1st Shawwal and Eid-El-Fitr celebration.

The Sultan, said he “did not receive any report from various Moon Sighting Committees across the country confirming the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH on Monday 8th April 2024 which was the 29th day of Ramadan 1445AH.”

According to the statement, signed by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, the Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, he said:

“Therefore, Tuesday, 9th April, 2024 is the 30th day of the month of Ramadan 1445AH.
