Amotekun Commander Joins UN Nuclear Disarmament Summit, commends Aiyedatiwa’s support
The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for supporting his participation in the United Nations International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons and United Nation Energynow SDG and Action Forum held in New York.
The high-level event brought together diplomats, policymakers, and security experts from across the world to advance dialogue on nuclear disarmament and global security. Adeleye, who was one of the globally recognized security men in attendance, said his presence underscored Nigeria’s commitment to peace initiatives and highlighted his leadership in promoting disarmament and security.
“Peace and security are universal responsibilities. It is a good thing to have a future free of nuclear weapons, and I am honored to contribute to that global effort. I appreciate our amiable government for granting Ondo Amotekun the opportunity to attend such an event and be part of this global decision-making,” Adeleye said.
During the summit, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke, International Spokesman of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), praised Adeleye’s role, noting that the Ondo Amotekun Corps has significantly contributed to peace and security in the South West and Ondo State.
Nkweke highlighted Amotekun’s efforts in strengthening community security, promoting peaceful conflict resolution, and supporting law and order. He described Adeleye’s participation in the summit as a testament to his dedication to peace both locally and globally.
The gathering emphasized awareness, education, and leadership in the fight against nuclear weapons, and the United Nation Energy Now SDG and Action Forum while reinforcing the importance of international cooperation on disarmament and collective security.
