Ondo NUJ Begins Press Week with Thanksgiving Service Tomorrow
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, will commence its week-long activities with a Thanksgiving service tomorrow, Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Salvation Gospel Int’l Centre (also known as House of Praise) near Airwaves off Ilesa Garage Road, Akure, at 9:00 AM.
This year’s Press Week activities, themed “Setting the Agenda Amidst Electioneering Paradox and Elusive Economic Development in Nigeria: The Media as the Fourth Estate of the Realm,” has Dr. Omosileola Adesoye-Ajayi, as the Press week committee Chairman and Mr. David Fidelis serving as the committee secretary.
On Monday, December 9, 2024, there will be a charity visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a free medical outreach for journalists, veteran journalists, and their spouses at the NUJ Press Centre Clinic, Alagbaka, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
On Day Three, Tuesday, December 10, the formal opening ceremony, symposium, public lecture, and investiture will take place. The lead speakers of the symposium are Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Dr. Abass Mimiko, and Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu.
The Ondo State Grand Patron and special guest, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is expected to attend the event, which will be chaired by the lawmaker representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Abiola Makinde. The chief host of the occasion is the NUJ National President, Comrade Yahya Alhasan, while the state chairman of the union, Prince Leke Adegbite, will serve as the host. The event will be held at the union’s Press Centre in Alagbaka, Akure, at 10:00 AM prompt.
On Wednesday, December 11, there will be a health walk/great trek, with Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, mni, as the special guest. A children’s party will also be held at the centre at 3:00 PM, with Princess Olufunto Campbell-Oluyede (Regent of Ayede Ogbese) as the special guest. The day will also feature the final of the indoor games at the centre at 2:00 PM.
The fifth day, Thursday, December 12, will feature a novelty match at the Aquinas College playing field along Hospital Road, Akure, at 1:00 PM. This will be followed by an Illegal Night at the centre at 7:00 PM, sponsored by Dr. Kayode Ajulo.
There will be a Jumu’at service at the Akure Central Mosque at 1:00 PM on Friday Decem13th which will followed with the grand finale of the week at 4pm for the dinner and award night at the NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka, at 4:00 PM.
