NUJ, ICPC Hold Workshop to Fight Against Corruption

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has partnered with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to hold a workshop aimed at fighting corruption in Nigeria.

Speaking while addressing over 70 journalists from across the country last night in Abuja, the National President of the Union, Chris Isiguzo, urged journalists to ensure responsible reporting in combating corruption.

He stated that the commission, with the support of the MacArthur Foundation, organized the one-day workshop to enhance journalists’ roles in preventing corruption.

The workshop, currently taking place in Abuja, is themed “Power of the Pen in the Fight Against Corruption.”

It will bring together journalists, ICPC officials, civil society organizations, and academics to explore the media’s influence in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria.

Isiguzo encouraged journalists to seize the opportunity of the workshop to deepen their commitment to exposing corrupt practices and using their professionalism to promote transparency.

In a related report, the MacArthur Foundation’s support for the event is part of its broader mission to promote good governance and combat corruption by empowering journalists.

The workshop will focus on strengthening the investigative reporting skills of journalists and improving their capacity to engage in data-driven journalism while maintaining high ethical standards.
