FG Distributes Rice to States and FCT

In an effort to alleviate economic hardships faced by Nigerians, the Federal Government has distributed 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

During a briefing in Abuja following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed that each state will receive 20 trucks of rice, with each truck containing 1,200 bags of 25 kg rice.

The initiative, spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu, aims to ensure food availability for Nigerians amidst current economic challenges in the country. Minister Abubakar Kyari of Agriculture has been tasked with overseeing the distribution process.

Additionally, the council has urged the presidential committee on compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to expedite their activities in supplying the vehicles and making the conversion kits accessible to Nigerians.

To support the implementation of a new minimum wage for workers, the Federal Government is preparing a supplementary budget for the 2024 fiscal year.

Despite these efforts, Nigeria continues to face economic challenges, with the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealing that inflation surged to 34.19% in June 2024.
