Strike: No worker Will be Penalised; as FG, Labour Continue Dialogue
Organized labour has said that no worker will be penalised as a result of the ongoing national strike saying that it will continue to dialogue with the Federal government on resolution reached .
It said it will today meet with it’s Orrgans to present the resolutions reached which will determine either to call off or continue with the strike action.
These were contained in the Resolutions reached at the meeting between the Federal government and the Organized Labour held on Monday June 3rd , 2024
The Resolution which was signed by representative of the Federal Government represented by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and the organized labour represented by President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),Joe Ajaero and President, Trade Union Congress (TUC),Festus Osifo was made available to the public.
The resolution contains that:
1. The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria is committed to a National Minimum Wage that is higher than N60,000;
II. Arising from the above, the Tripartite Committee is to meet everyday for the next one week with a view to arriving at an agreeable National Minimum Wage;
III. Labour in deference to the high esteem of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria’s commitment in (ii) above undertakes to convene a meeting of its organs immediately to consider this commitment; and
IV. No worker would be victimized as a result of the industrial action.
