FOMWAN 2024: Ondo begins advocacy visit
ahead National Conference
..as FUTA Vice Chancellor harps on spiritual upbringing of children
The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN, has began an advocacy visit to sensitize stakeholders and relevant authorities over its forthcoming National Conference which will be held in Akure .
The Ondo state Amirah (President), Alhaja Medinat Omikunle who led her executive members to the Federal University of Technology, Akure FUTA said the State has been selected to host the year 2024 National Conference after it held it 21years ago in 2003.
She said the visit was to familiarise with the vice Chancellor as a woman whose impact and achievements are felt and would remain a legacy never to be forgotten.
According to her, the conference tagged “Ondo FOMWAN 2024” would assemble women including youths within and outside Nigeria as delegates to gather towards a common purpose to further reinforce the unity and understanding among diverse membership.
Reacting, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Prof. Mrs, Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, charged Nigerians to train their children religiously while calling on women to continue to bring up their children in the way of the Lord and to fear God.
She tasked FOMWAN members to educate their girl child against early marriage, but to focus on completing their university education and allow their wives be empowered educationally and trade wise, to make the society a better one.
Oladiji who appreciated them for counting her worthy for the visit, applauded their efforts, saying the situation would have been worse than what is being experienced.
At a stopover with the Chairman of FUTA community, Alhaji Ali Ahmed, he described the vice Chancellor as a God-chosen woman who has been very useful to the FUTA community, preaching peace among the students in the university.
Other places visited included; Federal Girl’s College Akure, the Muslim Welfare Board and one of its Patron Prof. Ishiaq Amoo among others.
