By Sam Kaye

A woman, names withheld, once married to John Zira, a shop owner in jos has escaped ritual murder by God’s grace.

The lady who is the mother of the two kids of John hails from Boka community of Michika council area of Adamawa state while John, her estranged husband is from Plateau.

According to one of the aunties of Zira who is a provision seller in Jos Plateau State, the multiple stabs were meant to kill her for suspected ritual purposes.

Reliable sources however told this reporter that John Zira allegedly left Jos over two weeks ago for Song in Adamawa, put a call to his estranged wife that she should meet him in Song.

He was said to have cautioned his estranged wife not to tell anyone about her trip from jos to Adamawa but the woman went ahead to inform her aunty who was kept at red alert knowing that the couple were no longer living together under the same roof as husband and wife.

On reaching Song council area on Sunday, 9th July 2023, John Zira allegedly lured the woman to the outskirts of the council headquarters and demanded to have séx with her.

But the wife insisted that, the bush isn’t a proper place for them to rekindle their sex life and that provoked John who began to stab her with a knife for refusing his advances.

“After receiving several stabs from the estranged husband that fateful day, the wife, while bleeding, pretended to be dead on the floor right there in the bush.

” John later covered her with leaves thinking that the woman is dead. He Carried one of her shoes, money and even Cellphone when leaving the scene of the crime.

” God brought help to her when some women were passing by and they heard her screaming and bleeding profusely.

“She was taken to the General Hospital Song for immediate treatment ” said our source.

Reliable sources in Adamawa State revealed that the man’s intention was to use her possessions to do money ritual with her.

But the grace of God worked for the young lady as she was rescued almost immediately.

Reacting to the incident, spokesman of the Adamawa Police Command, Suleiman Ngoroje revealed that John Zira has since fled Song council area where he allegedly committed the crime and is on the run adding that his whereabout is still unknown.

He said “the case has been transferred from the Song Divisional Police Hqtrs Song, to State CID as directed by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Afolabi Babatola for Discreet Investigation and presently under investigation.

“The victim is perfectly responding to treatment as revealed by the Investigators.

The suspect is on the run and is being trailed as moving targets, shuttling between Kogi, Nasarawa and Plateau states.

” The Command is assuring members of the public that efforts are on top gear to arrest the suspect and bring him to book .” said the spokesman.
