…as Ratibis applauds govt decision

Ondo State Government has directed the Olukare of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Alhaji Akadiri Momoh to rescind his decision on the appointment of an Acting Chief Imam for Ikare-Akoko Central Mosque within 24 hours of the receipt of the letter sent to him or be ready to contend with government.

The State Government gave the immediate directive in a letter tittled : Immediate Rescission of Your Majesty’s Decision To Appoint An AG. Chief Imam For Ikare-Akoko Central Mosque”, signed by the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiya which was addressed to his Imperial Majesty on 13th April, 2023.

The letter described the alleged action of his merjesty as most unfortunate and least expected of a traditional ruler who is desirous of a lasting peace in his domain.

It stated that the state government was embarrassed by the decision with serious exception to the action at the critical time in the history of Ikare.

According to the letter, the state government further directed that:

  1. An unreserved apology be written to the state government for the action which Mr Governor views as an affront to his office in the face of his efforts to continue to maintain the peace in Ondo state.
  2. That the alleged Ag. Chief Imam cease from parading himself as a Chief Imam in Ikare Akoko forthwith.
  3. That there should be no prayer gathering or congregation anywhere during the forthcoming Eld-el- fitri in Ikare- Akoko
  4. That the state government recognised only the incumbent Chief Imam for the Ikare Central Mosque.
  5. That no congregation or gathering of any kind should hold or take place in Olukare’s palace henceforth.
  6. That Olukare should as a matter of deliberate policy, ensure that the peace is maintained in the whole of Ikare-Akoko.
