MMPN Celebrates Sultan at 70, Hails Him as Champion of Unity, Peace
The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has felicitated its Grand Patron, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), on his 70th birthday.
In a statement signed by its National President, Abdurrahman Balogun, the MMPN described the Sultan as a champion of unity, peace and peaceful coexistence whose leadership had contributed significantly to the development of Islam and Nigeria.
The association joined millions of Nigerians, Muslims across the world, traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials and members of the media community to celebrate the Sultan’s milestone and decades of service to Islam, humanity and the nation.
MMPN said the Sultan, as its Grand Patron, had remained a source of inspiration and guidance to Muslim media practitioners, particularly through his consistent emphasis on truth, fairness, professionalism and responsible journalism.
According to the association, these values have continued to strengthen the role of the media in promoting peace, national cohesion and the common good.
The MMPN also commended the Sultan’s leadership of the NSCIA, noting that he had demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening Islamic unity, promoting interfaith understanding and fostering peaceful coexistence among Nigerians irrespective of religious, ethnic or regional differences.
The association particularly appreciated the monarch’s unwavering support for the media and his recognition of the critical role journalists play in shaping public opinion, defending truth and advancing national development.
MMPN described the Sultan as a leader distinguished by wisdom, humility, courage and statesmanship, adding that his contributions to Islam and the country remained worthy of commendation and celebration.
The association prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the Sultan continued good health, wisdom and strength, as well as many more years of service to Islam, humanity and Nigeria.
