Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies at 66 After Cancer Battle

Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Hassan reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following a battle with stage-four cancer.
The death of the veteran Yoruba actor was confirmed by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, during an emotional Instagram Live session. The report was subsequently corroborated by veteran filmmaker and actor, Jide Kosoko.
The development has thrown the Nigerian entertainment industry into mourning, with colleagues, fans and admirers paying tribute to the actor and celebrating his contributions to the growth of Yoruba-language cinema.
Reports of the actor’s deteriorating health emerged in the days preceding his death, with members of his family disclosing that chemotherapy was no longer considered viable due to the advanced stage of his illness.
