Ondo state Chairperson of Police Officer’s Wives Association (POWA), Mrs Alice Jemila Asabi has expressed her desire to partner relevant organisations in reaching out to the less privileged in the state.
Mrs Asabi gave the assurance when her husband assumed duty as the 43rd Ondo State Commissioner of Police at the police headquarters, Igbatoro Akure.
She said her office will collaborate with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo state chapter in promoting a gender-friendly state.
“I will ensure I discharge my duties adequately to a reasonable extent by meeting the needs of the less privileged and widows in the state”
Asabi solicited the cooperation and support of Ondo state residents to work with her husband in achieving a crime-free state.
“With the help of God , there is nothing we cannot achieve. With the cooperation of the citizens of Ondo State, I believe things will work out fine.
She enjoined wives of police officers in the state to work effectively to make POWA more productive.
“I will ensure I reach out to the wives of officers and ensure we all work together to move the association forward with the help of God.
The state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, while welcoming her, described her husband’s deployment as home coming as she assured that NAWOJ is ready to partner POWA.
She urged her to key to the laudable programmes of NAWOJ which is aimed at promoting the interest of women and the girl-child in the society.
