Islamic Education Trust Distributes Ramadan Food Across Southwest States
In a bid to relieve hardship and make Ramadan an easier exercise, the Islamic Education Trust has distributed Ramadan food packages to selected states in the southwest region of the country.
The packages were presented to the less privileged in Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo States respectfully
A representative of the Welfare Department of the Islamic Education Trust, Dr Adetokunbo Abdulsalam, in his keynote address, stated that over 35 families were supported with Ramadan food aid in Oyo to ease fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
“Over fifty households benefited, and more than 250 people are indirect beneficiaries. Our database registration shows that each package is enough to feed a family of five for at least a week,” he affirmed.
In Ondo State, the foundation, supported by the Al-Tarmidhi Foundation, extended its support to members if the state chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN during their Elders’ Day celebration.
Thirty families were recorded as having received the Ramadan relief packages, which contained rice, beans, milk, spaghetti, Maggi, oil, sugar, and many other items.
This was in addition to 150 families selected from 20 local government areas in the state.
A highlight of the programme during the distribution, where over 180 people participated, was a lecture presentation and an award of excellence to deserving Nigerians.
